EV-Charging

It's cheaper to drive green

Charging your EV at home makes a big difference to your overall cost of mobility. A typical household rate for electricity in New Zealand is 28 cents per kWh, which makes your full 59 kWh battery cost just $16.52 to charge. Not bad for a full "tank" and up to 385km of WLTP combined cycle range (LEAF e+ model).

Charging the Nissan Leaf is Easy

Explore hassle-free charging at home or on the go, tapping into one of the ever growing public charging stations available across New Zealand.

Leaf

At Home

The Nissan LEAF can be plugged into any standard 240V electrical socket. With a Type 2 charging unit installed, the LEAF can reach full charge in 7.5 hours3, so you can charge overnight and start the day with a full 270km of range°.

Leaf

On the Go

Along regional motorways to major shopping centres and office buildings, you can find public charging stations across New Zealand. Many public charging stations offer CHAdeMO charging, a fast charging system that charges the LEAF battery from 20% to 80% in just 60 minutesΩ.

3This Home Charging time is based on, and requires use of a 32A / 6.6kW (7kW) wall box. Home Charging time will be dependent on charging conditions, including Home Charging type and condition, battery temperature and size as well as ambient temperature at point of use. Home Charging time is based on Nissan testing. Before using this product at home, consult with a licenced electrician to ensure your homes electrical system can support the use.

New Zealand model has not been tested using WLTP test procedure. Figures obtained after the battery was fully charged. Figures stated for the purposes of comparison amongst vehicles tested to the same technical procedures only. Actual real world driving range may vary depending on factors such as battery age and condition, driving style, use of heating/cooling, traffic conditions, weather conditions, any accessories fitted and vehicle load.
ΩTime dependent on charging conditions, including charger type and condition, battery temperature as well as ambient temperature at point of use. Indicated rapid charging time requires use of a CHAdeMO rapid charger. The Nissan LEAF (39 kWh usable) LEAF e+ (59 kWh usable) are designed to support the majority of journeys in daily life and is equipped with charging safeguards to protect the battery during repeated rapid charging sessions in a short period of time. The time taken for successive rapid charging can take longer if the battery temperature activates the battery safeguarding technology.

MAXIMISE YOUR RANGE

Get the most out of every charge with ECO Mode and B Mode regenerative braking.

Leaf

How to get more range from every charge?

Speed, driving style, topography and weather conditions can affect battery performance. More speed uses more energy, so the faster you drive the more often you’ll have to charge. To maximise your range, try to keep your driving smooth and steady. Increase the time between charges with ECO Mode or B mode regenerative braking.

Leaf

B Mode: Recover Braking Energy

Serious about maxing out your range? Activate B Mode. It delivers more regenerative braking, which charges the battery without compromising on driving power.

Leaf

Eco Mode

Choose ECO Mode to limit engine output and save energy. It slightly increases regenerative braking to boost your range, too. To get the most mileage out of your Nissan LEAF, use B mode and ECO mode at the same time.

Innovative Tech

Modern Intelligence

Nissan Intelligent Mobility connects the LEAF to traffic, pedestrians and parking spaces, to help keep you out of trouble and make driving more fun. The Intelligent Around View® Monitor gives you a virtual 360° bird's eye view of your surrounds, so you don’t miss a thing.

Leaf

Nissan is committed to making driving safer, smarter, and more enjoyable. Nissan Intelligent Mobility is the roadmap — a vision for the future of driving. The Nissan LEAF offers a suite of intelligent technologies designed to look ahead, behind, and all around you, so you can look forward to a new kind of confidence.

INTELLIGENT AROUND VIEW® MONITOR

Innovation that looks out for you

Nissan Intelligent Mobility keeps your eyes on the road and surroundings to assist you in handling unexpected situations. The LEAF’s Intelligent Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection uses four cameras to give you a virtual 360° bird's eye view of your surroundings, so you don't miss a thing. Drive with confidence, you're in safe hands.

INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY BRAKING

In the case of a possible collision, alerts sound before automatic braking kicks in to reduce speed and help you avoid a frontal collision with a vehicle ahead.

INTELLIGENT CRUISE CONTROL

More than maintaining a speed, this intelligent system maintains a safe distance between you and the car in front, and stays responsive to the movements of traffic around you.

LANE INTERVENTION

Stray from your lane and you’ll be warned with both a visual and audible alert by a system so smart, it turns them off when you flick on your indicator.

e-PEDAL ##

Single-pedal driving

Accelerate, brake and stop—all with one pedal. With the LEAF’s e-Pedal ##, just press down for an instant rush, and ease off to slow down. It’s a whole new way to drive that’s not only fun, but efficient. It can even add power back into the battery to help extend its range. Of course, your brake pedal is always there if you prefer to use it, or simply flip a switch to remain on regular two-pedal driving.

Leaf

e-PEDAL ##

Accelerate, brake and stop all in one pedal. By simply releasing the accelerator, the LEAF will come to a complete stop even on an incline and a decline.

Leaf

RIDE CONTROL

Enjoy a smoother journey. Our system automatically applies brakes and adjusts engine torque to better balance your ride.

Leaf

TRACE CONTROL

Handle corners like never before with individual wheel braking that helps you turn smoothly.
